BLUE PLAQUE FOR THE DUCHESS?

Supporters of the Duchess of York music venue in Leeds, which closed in 2000, have launched a campaign for recognition of this famous and well-loved venue. The venue was graced by bands such as Blur, Pulp, The Verve and Supergrass under the promotion of well known Leeds promoter John Keenan. If the Leeds Civic Trust agrees to the request, it will be the second “Rock” location in Leeds to receive a Blue Plaque. The Who’s Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey unveiled a plaque at the Refrectory, at the University of Leeds, where the iconic 1970 album The Who Live at Leeds was recorded
